(Established in 1986 – Serving communities since 1984)
Established in 1986, Chetna – Legal Advisory, Women & Children Welfare Society (popularly known as Chetna Welfare Society) is dedicated to empowering families and individuals through legal support, counseling, education, and skill development.
Over the years, Chetna has evolved into a holistic support system that addresses social, educational, and economic challenges faced by underprivileged communities.
At Chetna Welfare Society, we believe that true empowerment comes from a blend of knowledge, skills, and justice. By supporting women, children, and families, we strive to create a society where every individual can live with dignity, equality, and opportunity.
With over 45 years of distinguished legal practice, Advocate Shashi Kiran, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, has been a pioneer in championing both justice and social welfare. Her professional journey has been marked by landmark litigations, representation of reputed institutions such as Delhi Metro, MTNL, HAL, MCD, and the Union of India, along with her widely recognized Public Interest Litigations (PILs) addressing critical social issues like counterfeit medicines, prevention of female infanticide, and establishment of family courts in Delhi.
Deeply committed to extending her work beyond the courtroom, she founded Chetna Welfare Society with a vision to provide holistic support to marginalized communities. What began as her personal initiative to help women and children facing social, legal, and economic challenges has today grown into a registered NGO actively working in the fields of legal advisory, matrimonial counseling, free education for underprivileged children, vocational training for women, and employment generation.
Under her leadership, Chetna Welfare Society has become a platform where law and compassion converge — empowering individuals to claim their rights, gain financial independence, and build dignified lives. Her ability to translate her legal expertise into meaningful grassroots action continues to inspire volunteers, social workers, and community members alike.
To empower children and communities from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by providing access to free, quality education, promoting social justice, and creating opportunities for holistic development. We are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by nurturing knowledge, skills, and confidence, enabling every individual to lead a life of dignity and purpose.
A society where every child, regardless of their socio-economic status, has equal access to education and opportunities, and where empowered individuals collectively build a future rooted in equity, compassion, and social responsibility.
